Journalistic writing is all about news and views. They are two sides of the same coin. While recording events and commenting on them, journalists sometime tend to be biased in favour of what they or their organisations think or champion. And this may be reflected in the slant or angle they give ignoring some facts or not giving the opposing view or a comprehensive view. In dishing out views, however, one may naturally lean on one side, but the best of journalists or professionals would strike a neutral ground presenting opposing views in a balanced manner.
One of the most important tasks for journalists is to sift opinion from facts and present an objective news report as far as possible. One is free to air one’s opinion and that usually finds a place in the editorial page of a newspaper or magazine.
