

Journalism history and education
Everything has a story and a history, and journalism is no exception. It is all a part of journalism education one may get in a college or university. Without knowing how the need for communication evolved in human history, the tools that were used to communicate with others, and the ways in which the printing press created reforms in the socoio-cultural, economic, and political landscapes of various nations one may not be able to better appreciate the role of the press.
How many fours and sixes?
One of the basic requirements of editing a news report is to satisfactorily address the questions of What, When, Who, Why and How. Often, one or two elements are found to be missing from newspaper reports. At times, it is understandable as there could be reasons behind the omission such as facts not yet verified or lack of time to verify facts. But, how one is to explain this blunder.
The second fastest T20 century in first class cricket by Urvil Patel (who played for Gujarat Titans in the IPL) achieved on November 27, 2024 was a sensational story.
The sufficiently well displayed newspaper report, presented here, went gaga over it. However, it failed to quench the curiosity of readers who were wanting to know how many fours and sixes were there in the electrifying knock which came in just 28 balls. Alas, there was no mention of it. How could it miss the eyes of the persons who edited and displayed the report?
